Little London Art Fair
Following the first staging of the Little London Art Fair at the Royal Watercolour Society Gallery, organiser Mark Ponting of Blondes Fine Art reported positive results. He sold six works by Contemporary artist Dee Nickerson on his own stand, while fellow exhibitor Kynance Fine Art parted with five by Jo Voller and 10 items in total, and White Space Art sold several pictures by Sarah Bowman.
Ponting said: “We are pleased to be able to report a successful fair with good sales of both Modern British and Contemporary works. Sales on the preview evening were swift and the exhibitors were happy.”
Also standing was the fair’s charity partner, the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, which was recently awarded a £3.75m grant from the Lottery Fund to go towards its new premises, the New River Head in Clerkenwell.
London Map Fair
A double-sided escape and evasion map created by MI9. Offered with the belt where it was hidden, it is available from Bryars and Bryars for £950.
Bryars and Bryars offers a Second World War escape map of North Africa at the London Map Fair. It is printed on rayon by games manufacturer John Waddington for MI9, a secret department of the War Office between 1939-45. Though other versions of the map are known, this one was found concealed in a sleeve inside a British khaki drill tropical uniform belt of the type worn by Army and RAF officers in the desert.
Running from June 15-16 at the Royal Geographical Society, the fair hosts 35 exhibitors offering maps produced from the 15th-20th centuries. Auction houses Christie’s, Dominic Winter and Forum will be in attendance too.
PAD London
PAD London has announced its exhibitors for its 16th edition, which takes place in Berkeley Square from October 8-13. The 62 firms standing will offer historic and Contemporary design and jewellery.
Among the 10 first-time exhibitors are UK firms including Charles Burnand, Tristan Hoare, Gallery BR and London Glassblowing. Other newcomers hale from from France, Italy and Thailand, for example.
Returning exhibitors include Galerie Melissa Paul, Objet d’Emotion by Valery Demure and Rose Uniacke.
FAB Paris

FAB Paris (formerly Fine Arts Paris & La Biennale), which holds its third edition at the renovated Grand Palais from November 22-27, is launching an initiative to showcase young dealers from around the world.
Prospective exhibitors must have been in business for fewer than five years and propose one or two artworks or objects priced at less than €25,000. Applications are open until June 28, and those selected will be invited to show off their objects together on a curated stand free of exhibitor costs. The initiative follows last year’s French New Talent stand, which gave young dealers offering objects for less than €10,000 a platform at the fair.
Louis de Bayser, president of FAB Paris, says: “Cultivating a new generation of art dealers is essential to the vitality of the market.”
